★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È il luogo più elevato di San Marco ove un tempo sorgeva il castello normanno ma anche, presumibilmente, le fortificazioni delle varie epoche che l'abitato, di origini antichissime, ha attraversato. Qualcuno pensa che S. Marco sia stata la mitica Demona (che dava il nome alla val Demone, una delle tre divisioni amministrative della Sicilia sotto gli arabi insieme alla val di Noto ed alla val di Mazara).É giunto fino a noi solo un tratto delle mura, che danno un'idea di quanto possente dovesse essere il perimetro difensivo. Oggi, accanto al tratto sopravvissuto (che somiglia tantissimo ad un proscenio), vi è una piazza di discrete dimensioni che viene anche usata per le rievocazioni storiche.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Anche se permangono soltanto dei ruderi, il cui spalto viene purtroppo utilizzato come parcheggio, il castello domina l'intero paesino medievale con panorami intensi e belli ed è interessante arrivarci a piedi inerpicandosi tra vicoli con gradini e scale adorni di bellissime piante in vaso
