Il Castello, o Casaforte, fu costruito nel XIII secolo, con la funzione di torre di avvistamento fortificata e recintata. Oggi è circondata da alcuni boschi . Il est situé dans le territoire du village de Menolzio, l'ancienne Villa Menosii, sur une colline non loin de la chapelle de Santa Margherita. Le château, ou Casaforte, a été construit au XIIIe siècle, avec la fonction d'une tour d'observation fortifiée et clôturée. Aujourd'hui, il est entouré de quelques bois. La struttura fu costruita nel XII secolo su un rilievo nei pressi dell'attuale frazione Menolzio (anticamente Villa Menosii). I proprietari, la famiglia Farguili, furono investiti di parte del territorio di Mattie dall'Abbazia di San Giusto di Susa. L'edificio fortificato più che a un vero e proprio castello è riconducibile ad una massiccia torre recintata. La sua proprietà passò nel 1291 alla casata dei Bartolomei, quindi agli Agnes Des Geneyes, poi agli Ainardi ed è oggi degli Antonielli d'Oulx. The stronghold of Menolzio, also known as the castle or stronghold of Mattie, is a medieval building located in the middle valley of Susa near the hamlet of Menolzio, in the municipality of Mattie. The structure was built in the 12th century on a relief near the current Menolzio hamlet (formerly Villa Menosii). The owners, the Farguili family, were invested with part of the territory of Mattie by the Abbey of San Giusto di Susa. More than a real castle, the fortified building can be traced back to a massive enclosed tower. Its property passed in 1291 to the Bartolomei family, then to the Agnes Des Geneyes, then to the Ainardi and today it belongs to the Antonielli d'Oulx.

A beautiful evocative place to visit. It is a private property so the inside cannot be visited but also only outside you can breathe the magical history of this enchanted place of legends and medieval stories. Small but well kept.
