★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I booked this property for our stay in Venice. The location was perfect and room clean, however we were taken to a room in a building close to casa venier and the dirt in the common area was indescribable! Dirty stairs, bannisters and light switches. We could not get the Air condition to work and the moment we opened the windows for some fresh air we ended up with mosquitos inside the room. No internet connection not even when we tried to use our own.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casa Venier is a lovely small Gothic-style palace on the north eastern side of Campo Santa Maria Formosa, adjacent to the complex of Palazzi Donà in the Sestiere of Castello. This house was built in the 15th century, and is most notable as being the birthplace of Doge Sebastiano Venier, who led the Venetians during the Battle of Lepanto in 1571.The facade of the small building, typically Gothic, is arranged on three floors. Of particular value is the ogival and trefoil four-lancet window in the intrados on the second floor, but also the finishing with a small diamond-pointed molding of the windowsills. A peculiarity of all the windows is the use of a soft and yellowish stone (most likely Vicenza stone) unfortunately, and visibly, less resistant to salt. On the ground floor the building has been remodeled to accommodate commercial activities.
