Fu commissionata a Leon Battista Alberti da Giovanni Rucellai.
All'interno vi è il Tempietto del Santo Sepolcro, che riproduce in scala il Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme. Le sue proporzioni sono di classica eleganza, le pareti sono scandite da lesene corinzie e rivestite da riquadri marmorei a intarsi bicromi. Elegante anche la merlatura a gigli del coronamento.
 It is part of the deconsecrated church of San Pancrazio, the same where the Marino Marini Museum is also located.
It was commissioned from Leon Battista Alberti by Giovanni Rucellai.
Inside there is the Temple of the Holy Sepulcher, which reproduces in scale the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Its proportions are of classic elegance, the walls are marked by Corinthian pilasters and covered with marble squares with two-tone inlays. The lily crenellation of the crowning is also elegant.

The chapel can be visited through the Marini Museum for the price of € 6. Inside, a very helpful and knowledgeable employee described the chapel to us and answered our questions. Leaving the chapel it is possible to see a video of about 15 minutes with further explanations

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La cappella Rucellai è uno scrigno trecentesco che custodisce uno dei capolavori di Leon Battista Alberti: il tempietto del santo sepolcro. Restaurato con il sostegno totale della Fondazione Marino Marini di Pistoia, la Cappella Rucellai con il tempietto, grazie all’apertura di un passaggio posizionato sul lato sinistro, all’interno della navata centrale del Museo Marino Marini di Firenze, fa parte del percorso di visita del museo stesso. La cappella, già facente parte della chiesa di San Pancrazio, proprietà della curia di Firenze, mantenendo la sua destinazione di luogo sacro destinato al culto, è visibile al pubblico negli orari del museo.
Realizzato nel 1467, copia in scala di quello di Gerusalemme, il tempietto di Leon Battista Alberti è noto agli studiosi d’arte di tutto il mondo, ma quasi sconosciuto a Firenze. Nel 1808, la cappella fu separata dalla chiesa che venne sconsacrata e trasformata, per editto napoleonico, in una sala d’estrazione della imperiale lotteria di Francia. Da allora, il varco di collegamento fu murato e per la cappella, che continuò a essere consacrata al culto, fu costruito un nuovo ingresso su via della spada.

The Rucellai chapel is a fourteenth-century casket containing one of the masterpieces of Leon Battista Alberti: the temple of the Holy Sepulcher. Restored with the total support of the Marino Marini Foundation of Pistoia, the Rucellai Chapel with the temple, with the opening of a passage positioned on the left side inside the nave of the Marino Marini Museum in Florence, it is part of the tour the museum itself. The chapel, formerly part of the church of San Pancrazio, owned by the Curia of Florence, keeping its target of sacred place for worship, is visible to the public during museum hours.
Built in 1467, copy in scale than that of Jerusalem, the temple of Leon Battista Alberti is known to scholars of worldwide art, but almost unknown in Florence. In 1808, the chapel was separated from the church was deconsecrated and turned to the Napoleonic edict, in an extraction room of the imperial lottery of France. Since then, the connecting gate was walled up and the chapel, which continued to be consecrated for worship, a new entrance was built on the way of the sword.
