Beautiful library, in the heart of Verona, neat and clean. Very kind staff, wonderful rooms. It is possible to take guided tours (by reservation and for a fee) and see live ancient manuscripts. At the moment, there is a very beautiful exhibition of watercolors by G. Zucconelli. A truly exciting experience! I recommend going there if you are just passing through Verona. It is within walking distance of Ponte Pietra.

Beautiful and quiet place. Some of the wall-paintings were preserved.

This is the oldest library in the world (in continual operation) and highly significant for the collection of manuscripts it holds containing the earliest European legal, historical and literary work. Highly recommended the guided tour on Sundays (in Italian), or the Youtube documentaries available in English. Interestingly, the oldest university in the world - the University of Bologna - founded much later in 1088 is less than 200 km away, making Northern Italy truly the centre of western civilization until at least the invention of the printing press.

Marvelous tour, very professionally given. The history of this library spans most of the history of Verona. The tour finishes with a brief showing of a few of the older and more beautiful books housed in this library. Our guide was also kind enough to take the time to answer all the questions from our group.
