Noi, che siamo stati audaci a trovare una cascina aperta la domenica e che siamo anche innamorati, siamo stati molto fortunati a incontrare Antonio e la sua favolosa consorte. Ok. Il vino e il cibo offerto durante l'assaggio è stato di gran qualità. Ma davvero gran qualità. Se sarete fortunati, potrete assaggiare O' scià, e se sarete "disposti", come ci ha definito Antonio, potrete godere dei racconti suoi e di sua moglie. Coppia spettacolare e invidiabile, che oltre a una cultura Eno gastronomica e del territorio, sapranno intrattenervi per tutto il tempo che passerete in loro compagnia. Antonio è un oratore di gran livello e di straordinaria cultura. Ha viaggiato e vissuto un po' ovunque per tornare poi a occuparsi dell'azienda di famiglia. Quando parla di vino capita spesso che chiuda gli occhi e che si abbandoni come alla ricerca di parole che descrivano le grandi emozioni che una vita passata a ricercare può regalare. Dimenticate le altre cantine più blasonate. Da Antonio troverete la qualità di chi ha scelto di dedicarsi al "poco" ma fatto con cura e la cordialità di chi sta aprendo, giustamente orgoglioso, la porta di casa sua. Una porta che appunto vanta 4 generazioni di produttori. Grazie ancora Antonio. Io e Giulia prepariamo le carte d'adozione come si diceva... Luck favors the bold and the lovers. Antonio and Dora welcomed us with cordiality and professionalism, accompanying us on this journey back in time to the heart of Sicilian peasant culture. Pur senza aver prenotato siamo stati accolti dai proprietari senza problemi. Ci hanno proposto una degustazione dei loro meravigliosi vini con abbonamento e ogni vino ci hanno spiegato anche la storia e gli abbinamenti migliori. Siamo rimasti meravigliati soprattutto del nero d'Avola e dello zibibbo da tavola . Ma anche il Marsala vergine e il Passito sono fenomenali... Infatti abbiamo portato via un po'di scorte e sicuramente faremo ordinazioni online. Molto gentili e disponibili i proprietari , veramente delle belle persone. È sicuramente un posto da visitare,anche se non si è amanti dei vini. We went yesterday directly to Montalto cellars from Syracuse having seen that it was one of the few open on Saturdays. Even without having booked we were welcomed by the owners without any problems. They offered us a tasting of their wonderful wines with subscription and each wine also explained the history and the best combinations. We were especially amazed by the Nero d'Avola and the table zibibbo. But also the virgin Marsala and the Passito are phenomenal ... In fact we have taken away some stocks and we will certainly order online. Very kind and helpful owners, really nice people. It is definitely a place to visit, even if you are not a wine lover.

Le degustazioni dovrebbero essere più curate e la selezione di vini molto più ampia. Inoltre, una visita alle cantine avrebbe di certo reso l'esperienza molto più suggestiva. Unfortunately I have to give a star, I would have put zero .... the quality of the wine was not satisfactory considering the fame linked to the name. The tastings should be more accurate and the wine selection much wider. Furthermore, a visit to the cellars would certainly have made the experience much more suggestive.

Si capisce subito la dedizione, Un vino sartoriale, come lo definisce lui. abbiamo veramente apprezzato la sua disponibilità e la gentilezza della moglie la Signora Dora. Posso solo dire Grazie per tutto. A wonderful place, where family tradition is immediately perceived. The fourth generation is represented by Mr. Montalto. You immediately understand the dedication, A sartorial wine, as he defines it. we really appreciated his availability and the kindness of his wife Mrs. Dora. I can only say Thanks for everything.

Wijnproeverij met een grote M van Marsala. 3 wijnen mogen proeven met wat bruschetta. En dan de Marsala… later zelfs een persoonlijke Marsala van 30 jaar oud bijna Grappa achtig. Ottimo is het mogen proeven van rode nu nog “experimentele” Marsala van 2 jaar oud. Zoet, zo lekker en dan te bedenken dat alleen 9 huizen op de wereld deze beschermde, bij strenge wet gecontroleerde, naam mogen dragen. Genieten en natuurlijk een flesje gekocht. Wine tasting with a capital M from Marsala. 3 wines were allowed to taste with some bruschetta. And then the Marsala… later even a personal Marsala of 30 years old, almost Grappa-esque. Ottimo was allowed to taste red Marsala, which is still "experimental" 2 years old. Sweet, so tasty and to think that only 9 houses in the world are allowed to bear this protected name, controlled by strict law. Enjoy and of course bought a bottle. You have to celebrate parties.
