Really cool if you want to spend a calm week-end in the mountains. Please keep in mind that you need to pay to have a shower and payment is only in cash for most of the places in the area

My husband and I stayed at Camping Lo Scoiattolo between 21-27 August 2016. We have a medium--sized camper van so require an electricity connection, access to fresh water, and somewhere to empty our grey water and also chemical toilet. After a most unfriendly welcome at Camping Ground Jack the night before, we decided to move to Lo Scoiattolo. And thank goodness we did, as the difference between the two campsites is like night and day. At Lo Scoiattolo, we were greeted very warmly by the owner, who immediately confirmed she had availability (in excellent English, I might add). She talked us through the prices, which are lower than at Ground Jack, although not sure how they compare to Camping Remenno. As my husband does some freelance work remotely, it's important for us to be close to a wifi connection. We mentioned this to the owner at Lo Scoiattolo and she let us park behind her house (and plug into her electricity) just so we could be near the signal, which was very kind. The campsite itself is located right next to the river. It's a very peaceful spot just above San Martino and about a 40 minute walk to Bagni di Masino. It caters to camper vans, motorhomes, and tents, so all are welcome. My only small criticism of the site is the washing facilities. There wasn't really any hot water for dishwashing and the bathroom and shower facilities could use an upgrade as they were quite basic. FYI the showers are coin operated and you need to bring your own toilet paper. But overall, we had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate staying there again. The owner even gave us a EUR5 discount on our departure, which was very generous! Thank you again for everything, Lo Scoiattolo! We'll be back.

Full 5 star CAMPING!!! If you look for a hotel experience (like all big campings in Italy) and leave a low review please continue, you are not a camper. This is one of those places you wil not find often in Italy. Full in the nature, large pits and friendly owners.

Only camping I've been where you can witness newcomers' jaws drop when they step out of the car. Gorgeous location, bakery and minimarket at 10 minute walk. Friendly and helpful staff that will give tips on where to go in perfect English. Boulders at walking distance. Doing dishes with cold water is a small price to pay for all that. Definitely returning there in the future.

We passed camping Sasso on the way to this one. It seemed to us that Sasso was more equipped (including restaurant) but also more for families (thus: busier, ...). Therefor we drove to Lo Scoiattolo and I'm glad we did. The camping is located 10-15 min walk away from San Martino depending if you take the road or a little hike path parallel to it. In the 'city' you have a few nice restaurants and some shops. The camping itself was great. The host is extremely friendly and helpful (and speaks good english). Facilities are a little outdated but are sufficient, certainly if you are here for hiking. Shower is paid per coin, all else is included. There are 2 BBQs available for those who are interested. The location is also amazing, inbetween 2 sets of mountains, which gives for great views during the day (and stargazing at night). From the camping site it is only a 10 min drive to the starting point of some BEAUTIFUL hikes. This camping is ideal if you are not looking for a luxurous camping, but are looking to camp in a calm and nice location, for some good hiking.

Very nice and calm place. A lot of boulders and walking routes around. We also made a fire on fireplace, it was first experience for my son ☺️ Very friendly staff always ready to help you. Next time definitely again here ?

An incredible place - the only campsite you should stay at in Val Masino/Val di Mello. Anna was a very welcoming host. Quiet, clean and what a place to wake up in!
