★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 08/2021 È una cittadina della costa tirrenica calabrese, fondata nel I sec. a. c. da Ottaviano Augusto. Fino a poco tempo fa si riteneva che nella attuale Nicotera marina ci fossero i resti dell'antica magnogreca Medma, oggi la scuola predominante la da invece tra appunto Nicotera marina e Rosarno. È un bel caratteristico sito rurale collinare con un centro storico notevolissimo, con cattedrale sede vescovile per 1500anni, seminario e museo vescovile adiacenti. Inoltre viuzze ed androni con porte e androni medioevali e settecenteschi, un piccolo quartiere detto Giudecca, dove nel 1200 erano insediati una colonia di Ebrei fatti giungere da Federico II detto Stupor Mundi, per agevolare con i commerci e le finanze lo sviluppo della città e sopratutto del porto. Quindi il Castello Ruffo, appunto dei Ruffo di Calabria. Dal castello e dalla cattedrale balconate con vista incomparabile sulla costa tirrenica della Calabria meridionale e della Sicilia da Messina a Palermo. ALTRO ANCORA - - E' DA VEDERE.
