Aesthetic station and accessible with clean and clear underground. The bad point is the bad indication of the toilets at the entrance (I still have not found them). I also advise tourists to buy their ticket before going to the station because the purchase is not easy.

Due to a strike 2 days ago, all regional trains were cancelled for the day. I can only praise the ticket agent who patiently explained to us how to get to Milano Centrale so that we could get our train to Switzerland. Zero (0!) stars goes to his colleague, sat in the left ticket window. She continued to SHOUT at us (amplified by the loudspeaker!) in Italian, despite my telling her that I didn't understand. Her younger colleague was considerably calmer: he explained that we should go to Bergamo airport by bus, and then take a coach to Milano Centrale to catch a train back to Switzerland. Made it!

Bergamo a Beautiful and clean city located North of Italy famous with the Upper Old Town (Città Alta). Also it is the home town of the great Opera Master Gaetano Donizetti. Bergamo can be reached by train, just 45 minutes from Milan.

Came here on 29th December 2021 and have to say it was a quite unsettling experience, at around 7pm at night this is definitely the rough end of town and the station is the very heart of it. Lots of scammers and gangs hanging around outside with absolutely no purpose, if your coming from a foreign climb or even used to a warm and inviting Italian one, certainly at night this feels like a menacing place to be. Their are lots of “friendly” people just hanging out at the station ready to “help” tourists, but generally uncertain their help is required or their motives are pure. Best advice certainly in winter and at night leave your encounters here to the minimum.

Bergamo is a great city to visit for a few days. Especially the old mediaval town is worth your time. History, nature, architecture, visual details, cafes & restaurants, it's all there. Higlights - Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica and the Bell tower next to it, what a view from the top. Entrance 5e including the museum. Bus connections work well. Andiamo!
