★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Molto bella specialmente per gli affreschi delle volte. Curioso un bellissimo crocefisso che sembra fluttuare qualche metro sopra l'altare.
 Very beautiful especially for the frescoes of the vaults. Curious is a beautiful crucifix that seems to float a few meters above the altar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È stata costruita sull'area di due antiche chiese, intitolate entrambe a Santa Maria. Una è menzionata in una pergamena del 974. La seconda fu costruita tra il XIV ed il XV secolo. La basilica odierna fu edificata tra il 1856 e il 1861. La facciata completata nel 1870. L'edificio di culto ha un'unica navata di 89 metri di lunghezza e di 17,30 metri larghezza. La cupola è di 18 metri di diametro e 27 di altezza.
It was built on the site of two ancient churches, both dedicated to Santa Maria. One is mentioned in a parchment from 974. The second was built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The present basilica was built between 1856 and 1861. The facade was completed in 1870. The church building has a single nave 89 meters long and 17.30 meters wide. The dome is 18 meters in diameter and 27 in height.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Edificio tipicamente neoclassico, la Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta venne eretta fra il 1856 ed il 1870, anno in cui fu completata la facciata. Purtroppo la sua costruzione avvenne a spese di due chiese ben più antiche, una già menzionata nel 974, l'altra risalente al XV Secolo: di quest'ultima rimane però il bel campanile, del 1454. Se la facciata è imponente, l'interno lo è ancor di più: la scelta della navata unica rende la percezione dello spazio persino più ampia di quel che è in realtà. Le decorazioni e gli affreschi non si segnalano per particolari pregi artistici, tuttavia va riconosciuto che i restauri del 2015 hanno reso la chiesa brillante come un gioiello. Dovrebbe custodire uno Sposalizio della Vergine del Morazzone (1573 - 1626), ma non sono riuscito a trovarlo.
Typically neoclassical building, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta was built between 1856 and 1870, the year in which the facade was completed. Unfortunately, its construction took place at the expense of two much older churches, one already mentioned in 974, the other dating back to the fifteenth century: the latter, however, remains the beautiful bell tower, from 1454. If the facade is impressive, the interior it is even more so: the choice of the single nave makes the perception of space even wider than it actually is. The decorations and frescoes do not stand out for particular artistic merits, however it must be recognized that the 2015 restorations have made the church as brilliant as a jewel. It should hold a Marriage of the Virgin of Morazzone (1573 - 1626), but I could not find it.
