I found a puncture on a tire (well, actually the TPMS found the leak) on a Saturday afternoon after all the stores were closed here in Italy. For two days I topped off with air to keep my vehicle on the road for my travels. Monday afternoon I find myself at this shop in a foreign land with little to no knowledge of the language, or the shop my language. We manage to communicate and he quotes a ridiculously low price to repair the flat, I give the go ahead for the work and he starts immediately stopping the work on a prior vehicle to work on mine. This man does not waste a movement, he wire brushes the rusting mating surface of the hub and checks the pressure of the remaining tires and spare tire as the glue is curing on the patch,. It was almost like watching a dance performance. When he is done he writes up a bill for the exact amount we agreed upon – 7 Euros. I give him ten. This shop did one other very important thing for me – it alleviated my stress in dealing with another culture in what is rarely a good situation.
