L'archivio Gonzaga è uno dei più completi ed esaustivi archivi appartenuti a una famiglia che abbia governato in età moderna.
Rilevante è anche l'archivio Castiglioni acquisito dai discendenti di Baldassarre Castiglione, archivio che include pergamene, mappe, disegni e documentazione della nobile famiglia mantovana dal XIII al XX secolo.
The State Archive of Mantua preserves documents dating back to the eleventh century, when the city was under the rule of the Canossa, the municipal period, the era of the Bonacolsi and above all of the Gonzaga.
The Gonzaga archive is one of the most complete and exhaustive archives that belonged to a family that governed in the modern age.
Relevant is also the Castiglioni archive acquired by the descendants of Baldassarre Castiglione, an archive that includes parchments, maps, drawings and documentation of the noble Mantuan family from the thirteenth to the twentieth century.
