G	Giuseppe Demartino on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questa antica porta, detta "Marina", denominata tale per la vicinanza al litorale marino (che fantasia...) è motivo di vanto per tutti i forestieri barlettani che, tornando nella città d'origine, la visitano obbligatoriamente sentendosi finalmente a casa per il fetore che viene emanato nella strada che la circonda. La porta in realtà delimita olfattivamente due zone della via detta Colombo probabilmente per i residui che essi lasciano: la zona adiacente alla spiaggia, oltre la Porta "Marina", ospita un mercato all'ingrosso ittico che 24 ore al giorno esala odori nauseabondi per la gioia di turisti, forestieri ed abitanti della zona. L'altra parte invece ospita Ristoranti, Osterie e Pizzerie nonchè una recente rotonda terminata dopo 5 anni di duro lavoro per la gioia degli automobilisti. Se le immediate vicinanze della porta detta "Marina" lasciano a desiderare la struttura stessa è la parte peggiore. Abbandonata all'incuria dell'amministrazione e delle condizioni atmosferiche questo itinerario è considerato porto di scarico per rifiuti organici, inerti e materiali riciclabili abbandonati all'interno e all'esterno di essa. Porta Marina, per quanto possa essere stata maltrattata dalla cittadinanza e da chi la amministra, rimane meta di ritrovo serale per vecchi amici forestieri che la saluteranno ancora una volta con un pizzico di malinconia. This ancient gate, called "Marina", named as such for its proximity to the sea coast (what a fantasy ...) is a source of pride for all the Barlettani foreigners who, returning to the city of origin, compulsorily visit it, feeling finally at home for the stench emanating from the street that surrounds it. The port actually olfactively delimits two areas of the via Colombo known probably for the residues that they leave: the area adjacent to the beach, beyond the "Marina" gate, hosts a wholesale fish market that 24 hours a day exhales nauseating smells for the joy of tourists, foreigners and inhabitants of the area. The other part instead hosts restaurants, taverns and pizzerias as well as a recent roundabout completed after 5 years of hard work to the delight of motorists. If the immediate vicinity of the door called "Marina" leaves the structure itself to be desired, it is the worst part. Abandoned to the neglect of the administration and weather conditions this itinerary is considered a port of discharge for organic, inert waste and recyclable materials abandoned inside and outside it. Porta Marina, although it may have been mistreated by the citizens and by those who administer it, remains an evening meeting place for old foreign friends who will greet you once again with a touch of melancholy.

È situata nella piazza omonima e su di essa confluiscono: via Mura San Cataldo, che circonda i Giardini del Castello e scende fino a Piazza Marina seguendo l'abbassamento di quota sul livello del mare; via Mura del Carmine, che proviene dalla parte opposta e che è situata sulle antiche mura che un tempo si affacciavano sul mare; via Marina che proviene dal Porto e, attraversando la piazza, sale lungo fino a innestarsi nell'antico tracciato di via Cialdini. Porta Marina is the only remaining example of the ancient gates that encircled the city of Barletta. It is located in the square of the same name and onto it: via Mura San Cataldo, which surrounds the Castello Gardens and descends to Piazza Marina following the lowering of altitude above sea level; via Mura del Carmine, which comes from the opposite side and is located on the ancient walls that once overlooked the sea; via Marina, which comes from the Port and, crossing the square, climbs long until it enters the ancient route of via Cialdini.

Doch, doch, einige Herren plaudern entspannt vor dem Café rechts. Beautiful old gate, from long ago past times ❗ Except heavy car traffic, little going on in this once important "Corner"........ Yes, yes, some gentlemen are chatting relaxed in front of the café on the right.

B	Bubba Berry on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can't say enough about the kindness and hospitality of the owners. I asked the best way to get there from the train station and they said they would just pick me up. It is one block from the Ocean and it is extremely clean. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
