A fair rating of 3.5 stars. We had an early booking by Italian standards at 7.30pm. A warm welcome was definitely missing from our male manager/ host, despite our smiles and our buonasera. Our main female waitress was professional but generally cold overall. We ordered in Italian and said grazie often with a smile - we made a concerted effort to converse in Italian. My wife noticed that the native Italians were receiving a lot of personal attention smiles and warmth from the main waitress and the male manager. We understand that there is a language barrier which we are responsible for, but we did try our very best to speak Italian and we did use basic manners and apologise for our “bad Italian”. The male manger did not check on us except to bring us the bill, but checked on every other table during the night. There was a secondary waitress that was so warm and lovely that spoke only Italian, and we felt no barrier as she appreciated our gratitude and we appreciated hers. We thanked her and said goodbye in the true Italian way! So, service wise apart from the kind secondary waitress, was pretty poor towards tourists but for Italians, service appeared to be warm, caring and attentive. Food wise, the cod tart was very good (except for a large stray bone), as was the vegetable tart. The spaghettone with pistachio, dried tomato & olives was excellent. The fish of the day (ocean trout) with olives and mash potato was fresh- I would suggest the addition green peppercorns, green olives, a dollop of cream to the mash, a good pinch of rock salt and a finish with a good virgin olive oil would lift the dish. The tiramisu was good. Bottle of Vermentino a little expensive for the quality. Nebbiolo grappa was excellent. We would recommend tourists go elsewhere for a nicer overall experience, but for native speakers it should be very enjoyable. Food is great, service not so much. Were brought the wrong dish, because they didn't have what we ordered. Then argued with us, no apologies, and rude behaviour after that. Putting that aside the price was good and pasta delicious.

Great regional food, very kind staff and prices are just right for what you get: about 20-30€/each without wine. If you want to try genovese food, this is the place to go but be sure to reserve your table as it is a busy place.

This is an awesome place. At lunch we got very authentic food consisting of two courses plus wine and water for just 12€ per person. The menu is handwritten and in Italian, but everything was translated to us by the friendly staff. The food came quick and was just great. Worth mentioning that we were the only non-Italians eating there, so it seems to be a preferred place by the locals, which is probably a good sign. We got quite lucky getting a table. Shortly after we got ours it got pretty crowded.

Interesting restaurant with extremely nice staffs! Must try their beef tartare ! I would say the best!

The environment of the shop is nice but the food doesn't really suit my taste. The staff is quite polite and friendly though.

Good food, fair prices. Tried the rabbit and a pasta dish with pesto and beans. Both were very good and priced well. The baccala/potato appetizer tasted fine but was overpriced. Still, worth a visit.
