La struttura medievale ricalca la tipologia del cassero, della rocca fortificata e rimanda a quella quasi gemella di Arcidosso, la cui posizione topografica e topologica è affine. Le mura digradano fino al porto turistico e circondano il borgo inglobando la rocca. M	Michele Maione on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Faceva parte del sistema difensivo del porto della Repubblica Senese, era una delle rocche dei Signori Aldombrandeschi che ne cedettero l'uso ai Senesi, presumo con la forza, i Senesi nel 1300 la consolidarono, passarono i secoli, un paio, e nel 1500 fece parte dello Stato dei Presidi Spagnolo, con Orbetello, Santo Stefano e Porto Ercole, questa situazione fu tollerata dal granducato di Toscana, e per questo Giuseppe Garibaldi la scelse come punto di raduno dei 1000 filibustieri, camicie rosse molte non italiane, scesero dalle navi in rada razziarono l'arsenale di fucili e polveri ed indisturbati partirono alla volta della Sicilia, si può visitare la rocca con un obolo, le vie di accesso sono dal paese ed anche da fuori. Situata sul promontorio più meridionale dei Monti dell'Uccellina, dalle sue torri si poteva controllare il tratto costiero fino al promontorio dell'Argentario. E' stata realizzata in pietra. Venne distrutta ma successivamente ricostruita La sua forma è rettangolare con quattro torri che si innalzano agli angoli. Tre torri sono sostanzialmente uguali, mentre la torre nord risulta essere sia più alta e più massiccia. Lo spettacolo dall'alto delle mura è fantastico Tenuta molto bene è curata da un'associazione locale con personale gentile e disponibile.E' visitabile.
