★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid. Extremely rude staff who refused my partner and I a table despite being empty. The rude waiter said “no. Fully booked”. When I asked if I could make a booking for another evening , he flat refused and said they were fully booked, which is highly doubtful. There are many lovely places to eat in Trieste and it appears this is one hostile to tourists and rude to those who enquire after a booking.
Don’t bother - there are plenty of other places that are both friendly and accommodating.
Note - my partner and I are a mixed race couple and I did wonder if this was an issue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went here for lunch on my first day in Trieste. I don't speak any Italian, fortunately for me, the waiter spoke english and told me what the day's specials were. I had fresh tagliatelle with mixed seafood. It was delicious.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trattoria in the centre of Trieste. We had a very enjoyable experience here. Everything makes you feel at home: location, food and owners. We enjoyed most the home-made tagliatelle with sea-food and the white wine of the house: Tokai. Atmosphere and location are simple and warm, the place to go on a rainy evening as we did.

Of course the wine was awesome as well... Best you try everything by yourself! The dessert was amazing!
