β β β β β Overall - Go to this restaurant and enjoy it as there is a lot to enjoy. Avoid the candied onion dish as it is stupid (see below), and is the reason I am not giving 5 stars.
Service - we had overall wonderful service by a very sweet waitress, and I have only one small complaint which I mention below.
Ambience - a bit more modern, but quite cosy with dim lights and red brick walls along the Navigli. Very nice.
Food - my mother and sister had pigeon and cotoletta. I tried both and they were delicious, and my family members were very content. My vegetarian partner had Risotto Milanese which was also delicious. The complementary bread, brioche and cauliflower souffle were also delicious.
Stupid Onion Dish - I ordered candied onion with caramelised onion and goats cheese. This was from the TRADITIONAL menu (this restaurant has a traditional menu, ab experimental menu, and a tasting set menu; no usual starters/mains etc). It was the only dish I ordered as I did not want to spend too much money, and as it was from the traditional menu, I thought it would be a normal portion. It is absolutely tiny, in total you will eat maybe 1/4th to 1/2 of an onion plus a tablespoon of some soft goats cheese. I would have really appreciated if the waitress let me know how small this dish was (my only complaint about her). This cheese and caramelised onion are presented in an edible red candied glass shell in the shape of an onion, and given the price, presentation and size of the portion, you would expect something good from this onion, but there was nothing good about this onion. I was absolutely unimpressed. It is not difficult to cook better onions at home.
I go into detail about this as the restaurant has a lot going for it, and someone who knows the size of this dish and knows it is an experimental dish, may come out the other side having quite enjoyed it.
Once again, my overall recommendation - go and enjoy this restaurant and avoid the stupid onion dish.

β β β β β We could not eat much due to our poor appetite. But whatever we tried was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly. The tiramisu was so special. A definite must visit. The kitchen works silently and effortlessly. Kudos to the team.

β β β β β I understand there is creativity, research and incredible knowledge behind the dishes, however, I don't like to eat a tomato which is actually a chocolate dessert and a mozzarella which is an ice-cream. Interesting experience but not for me.

β β β β β This place is awesome. Go for the good, the wine, Maida and the incredibly nice female waiter, whoβs name we did not get.
Cuttlefish ink spaghetti with swordfish, polpo, dolce - everything is delicious.

β β β β β Nivigli is a cozy area by the canals in Milan and that's where you find this place. They both have a ala carte and a set menu. We had the thought and taste menu which was really interesting with a lot of new tastes and things I actually never eaten before, like snails and pigeon. We also had the wine package where they combined the food with different wines which was really nice. The food was good and it was fun trying something different

β β β β β Al Pont de Ferr is in Navigli area, it's a Michelin Guide restaurant. The place is cosy. Love the breads they provide. The dishes are quite good with creativity and fair price, but I expect more. The training of service should be better. I am sure the restaurant could improve much more.

β β β β β I recommend for the nice food and service. Be mindful it is a bit pricy (24eur for a risotto). Service is good and wine list is fantastic. We had a bottle of very good wine from the organic white wines (1 full page in the wine list!).

β β β β β This was the best meal I have ever had in Milano. It was 2013 and I still recommend this restaurant in 2022! We were there late but Iβd recommend it at any hour. Arrive hungry so you can enjoy all the courses fully.
