P	Patrizia Martinelli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'abbazia è di matrice cistercense ed è incastonata all'interno delle mura dell'antico abitato di Falerii Novi. L'accesso al sito è assicurato attraverso la splendida Porta di Giove. L'abbazia presenta una planimetria a croce latina con tra ampie navate collegate a un altrettanto esteso transetto . Le cinque absidi allineate, all'interno sono decorate da oculi e finestre, all'esterno da colonnine e archetti ciechi che evocano la maniera lombarda spesso citata nell'alto Lazio. Al di sotto del transetto è visibile il tracciato di una strada romana, il decumano della città antica. La costruzione dell'abbazia viene datata al XII secolo. Degno di attenzione il portale in marmo con profili multipli che contrasta con il grigio della facciata. The abbey is of Cistercian origin and is set within the walls of the ancient town of Falerii Novi. Access to the site is ensured through the splendid Porta di Giove. The abbey has a Latin cross plan with large naves connected to an equally large transept. The five aligned apses, inside are decorated with oculi and windows, outside with small columns and blind arches that evoke the Lombard manner often mentioned in upper Lazio. Below the transept you can see the layout of a Roman road, the decumanus of the ancient city. The construction of the abbey dates back to the 12th century. Worthy of attention is the marble portal with multiple profiles that contrasts with the gray of the facade.

The lost city of falerii Novi .. I would not say after having been to shoot video .. this Church of Santa Maria is really beautiful and full of testimonies .. with two Roman capitals on two really remarkable columns ..

От города чудом сохранилась мощная периметральная стена, диаметр которой хорошо просматривается. Имеет квадратную структуру римского города (кардо-декуманум) с 4 воротами, главные из которых - ворота Юпитера сохранились просто изумительно, в замковом камне просматриваются черты человеческого лица (оригинал находится в музее Чивильта-Кастелана). Стена выложена блоками из красного туфа без раствора. Внутри древнего города сейчас в центре находится церковь Санта-Мария-ди-Фалерии - чудная романская базилика была центром цистерцианского монастыря, основанного здесь в 11 веке. Сама церковь отлично сохранилась, фасад был реконструирован в 1972 году. За церковью проводились раскопки древнего города, найденные артефакты находятся в музее виллы Джулия в Риме и музее фалисков в Чивильта-Кастелана. New Faleria (the capital of the Falisks, a people who lived in the north of Lazio) is known from 241 BC (the former capital of the Falisks - Old Faleria was captured by the Romans and completely destroyed). A powerful perimeter wall, the diameter of which is clearly visible, has miraculously survived from the city. It has a square structure of a Roman city (cardo decumanum) with 4 gates, the main of which - the gates of Jupiter - have been preserved simply amazingly, the features of a human face are visible in the castle stone (the original is in the Civilta-Castelana Museum). The wall is lined with red tuff blocks without mortar. Inside the ancient city, now in the center is the Church of Santa Maria di Faleria - a wonderful Romanesque basilica was the center of a Cistercian monastery founded here in the 11th century. The church itself is perfectly preserved, the facade was reconstructed in 1972. Excavations of the ancient city were carried out behind the church, the artifacts found are in the museum of the Villa Giulia in Rome and the falisque museum in Civilta Castelana.

Gli scavi sono privi di sorveglianza e di guide , poche informazioni sui cartelli. Un po' trascurati. Luogo da visitare. Very beautiful abbey surrounded by greenery, the church is managed and functioning, and they also carry out celebratory functions. The excavations are unsupervised and without guides, little information on the signs. A little neglected. Place to visit.

La costruzione sorge all'interno della cinta muraria dell'antica città Falisca di Falerii Novi, fondata nel 241 a.C. La chiesa si presenta strutturata nel classico schema a 3 navate, con quella centrale molto alta e dall'aspetto possente. Qui fanno bella mostra di sé 4 splendide colonne in marmo bianco di epoca romana, riutilizzate ed impiegate nella costruzione della chiesa.Quest'ultime sono state usate per sorreggere le arcate tra la navata centrale e quelle laterali in prossimità dell'altare. La costruzione termina con ben 5 absidi perfettamente orientati ad Est. Nelle giornate del Solstizio d'estate e in quello d'inverno la luce del sole, entrando dalle apposite aperture poste nell'abside centrale, crea un gioco di luce che proietta la forma di una croce greca all'interno della chiesa. Consiglio vivamente la visita anche alla splendida cinta muraria dell'antica città di Falerii Novi e alla necropoli della Via Amerina (Cavo degli Zucchi) a pochissima distanza da lì. Abbey built by the Cistercian monks at the end of the 11th century. The building is located within the walls of the ancient Falisca city of Falerii Novi, founded in 241 BC. The church is structured in the classic 3-nave scheme, with the central one very high and powerful in appearance. Here there are 4 splendid white marble columns from the Roman era, reused and used in the construction of the church, which were used to support the arches between the central nave and the side aisles near the altar. The construction ends with 5 apses perfectly oriented to the East. On the days of the summer and winter solstice the sunlight, entering through the special openings in the central apse, creates a play of light that projects the shape of a Greek cross inside the church. I highly recommend a visit to the splendid walls of the ancient city of Falerii Novi and the necropolis of Via Amerina (Cavo degli Zucchi) a short distance from there.
