R	Roberto Marconetta on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vulcanello di fango e gas. Ci sono due pannelli informativi. Non ci andate con i tacchi ma scarpe basse e comode. Le zone senza breccia, se ha piovuto, tendono ad essere un po' fangose. Il rumore che produce la bolla quando arriva in superficie, non si sente perché coperto dal rumore delle macchine della strada. Attenzione se portate bambini molto piccoli. La strada provinciale è vicinissima. Attenzione a quando l'attraversate. Le bolle si riescono a vedere con molta difficoltà, per la lentezza con cui si manifestano e per l'erba alta. Vulcan of mud and gas. There are two information panels. Vale una sosta solo se si è di strada, magari per salire ad Atri o raggiungere il casello. Interesting place but there is little to see because the vulcanello is covered by vegetation and the top with mud and gas bubbles is barely visible. Una riqualificazione importante che rappresenta anche un’attrattiva a livello nazionale. Un piccolo cratere che da oltre vent’anni si è ampliato, secondo gli abitanti della zona, pertanto, mentre prima era aperto ai passanti poi è stato messo in sicurezza. I vulcanelli eruttano fango, argilla, gas, non lava, i gas che fuoriescono sono per la maggior parte composti da metano, anidride carbonica e azoto. La risalita di gas ed acqua provocano l’esplosione quando l’acqua attraversa zone ricche di argilla trasformandola in ‘plastica’, il materiale fluido rilasciato gradualmente in superficie dalla costante risalita dei gas si accumula e la pressione dei gas potrebbe, a un certo punto, provocare una sorta di ‘eruzione’. Si tratta di un vulcano di fango con attività intermittente che produce colate di fango, argilla, acqua salina, anidride carbonica e metano, anche se si sentono anche emissioni sulfuree. I pannelli esplicativi presenti sono ben fatti, ma forse occorrerebbe tagliare un po’ la vegetazione attorno al cratere per rendere più visibile il fenomeno ed evitare ai turisti la tentazione di scavalcare la recinzione per avvicinarsi di più. Sebbene il cartello dica di ascoltare il gorgoglio del fango, il rumore del traffico lo rende impossibile. Interesting geological phenomenon, although the crater is not visible.
