However some one had helpfully put up signs in 3 languages on how to get to the town centre and to Trieste.

Far away from the city centre even the town centre of Opicina.
Bus 4 from Trieste oberdan to the main road and a short walk.
Trains goes to Ljubljana daily. Check timetable on DB website

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Landed here on a train from Ljubljana. The place looked almost deserted, with no one around. Absolutely calm and horribly quite. Fortunately, bus no. 4 was available, so I did not had to wait longer. The view from the bus of the Trieste city is very nice.
