★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Storica, maestosa e monumentale, situata a Lorenzana nel comune di Crespina a pochi chilometri da Pisa, la villa Del Carretta nota anche come Villa Belvedere, fa parte di un complessivo comprendente una canonica e un oratorio ed è davvero interessante sia per le sue forme architettoniche che per la ricchezze delle opere d'arte custodite. Costruita nel 1580 e ristrutturata nel 1700, la costruzione dell'imponente edificio segue i canoni tradizionali delle ville toscane rinascimentali: la facciata con due torri laterali, la grande scalinata d'ingresso e l'entrata al giardino costituita da una cancellata affiancata da due leoni in terracotta montati su piedistalli. Nel giardino si possono ammirare affascinanti e profumate limonaie e una bella balaustra decorata da statue e vasi. All'interno della villa sono visibili importanti opere realizzate dall’artista Gian Battisti Tempesti. Alcune sono vicine allo stile Barocco, per esempio nel salone della villa, altre sono in stile classico, come le decorazioni della canonica.
Historic, majestic and monumental, situated in Lorenzana in the municipality of Crespina a few kilometers from Pisa, the Villa Del Carretta also known as Villa Belvedere, is part of an assembly comprising a rectory and an oratory and is really interesting both for its architectural forms that for the riches of the guarded works of art. Built in 1580 and renovated in 1700, the construction of the imposing building follows the traditional canons of the Tuscan Renaissance villas: the façade with two side towers, the large entrance staircase and the entrance to the garden consisting of a gate flanked by two lions in terracotta mounted on pedestals. In the garden you can admire fascinating and fragrant lemon houses and a beautiful balustrade decorated with statues and vases. Inside the villa are visible important works created by the artist Gian Battisti Tempesti. Some are close to the Baroque style, for example in the living room of the villa, others are in classic style, like the decorations of the rectory.
