★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il palazzo di Giustizia è sito sul lato nord di piazza Verga, importante piazza catanese. A dare inizio ai lavori di fondazione è stato Benito Mussolini nel 1937. La realizzazione è dell'architetto, ingegnere e accademico italiano Francesco Fichera, il quale non ebbe la possibilità di vedere conclusa la sua opera ; mori nel 1950 e il palazzo fu inaugurato nel tardo 1953. La costruzione avvenne molto lentamente e incontro' diversi ostacoli. Innanzitutto, i lavori ritardarono per lo scoppio della seconda guerra mondiale. I lavori ripresero nel 1951e determinarono nel 1953. Ancora oggi il maestoso edificio mostra motivi architettonici del settecento catanese rielaborati in chiave novecentesca. Nell'androne si ammira la maestosa statua dello scultore Domenico Maria Lazzaro, conosciuto col nome Mimi.
The Palace of Justice is located on the north side of Piazza Verga, an important Catania square. The foundation work was started by Benito Mussolini in 1937.
