Trattoria La Farmacia Dei Sani

I've been going to this sought-after tavern in the lower Brescia area for years. It is coveted because, except for the weekly lunch breaks where if you arrive early you will find a place, on weekends the waiting list lasts for months. Now the Farmacia dei Sani restaurant works only from Wednesday to Sunday only for lunch. Once it also delighted us in the evening, unfortunately for some years they have limited the activity. Over time, the menu has never undergone major changes, but the classic doesn't need updating. The first aspect that I would like to highlight is the quality of the raw materials used. For example, in general I am always wary of the appetizer counter, the quality is never that great in trattorias. Here at the Farmacia dei Sani this is not the case, the Russian salad is handmade, the salami is a scream local, the vegetables all delicious. Start with the hot appetizers, polenta with porcini mushrooms, culatello with melon, sliced ​​raw mushrooms and, to stay in the Brescia tradition, melted cheese and omelette (this perhaps the only one not up to par). There is also an excellent carpaccio offered as an off-menu. All excellent, praise to sliced ​​raw mushrooms and exquisite culatello. First to applause, especially the crepes with mushrooms. Second courses selected with meat, expertly cooked strictly on the grill, cut, horse and donkey. Be ready for desserts, their homemade ice cream will make you come back with your eyes closed! Also worth mentioning are their cookies, which are also homemade. The wine shop on the street also belongs to the same owners, from which the restaurant can be accessed directly, guaranteeing a wide choice of wines, even by the glass. If you can, I recommend that you spend a pleasant experience at the Sani Pharmacy, all accompanied by the courtesy and professionalism of the owners. Just remember to book, especially if you want to come on Saturday or Sunday where you will have to take into account a long waiting list. I forgot, the price, you will be left open-mouthed, usually for a full lunch, including wines you get to 25 max 30 euros each, really an excellent value for money.

The place is very characteristic, the food is of quality and the staff is very kind and attentive. The price is really a positive surprise! Highly recommended!

Interesting and alternative place right away with shelves full of DOC and DOCG wines of any kind. I only tried breakfast as a meal, but the staff seemed more than professional and competent .. the environment is properly spaced with wooden panels to comply with anti-Covid regulations.
