Non vi sono notizie specifiche sull’epoca della edificazione, neanche sull’identità del costruttore, risulta però esistente nel 1569, secondo gli Elenchi dei Viceré. Nei documenti riportati dal Cosi in "Torri Marittime di Terra d’Otranto". Congedo Editore, (1989), la torre viene descritta come “Torre de Ruggero, sita nella marina detta Saso e in territorio del Casale di Vanze”. La torre, dopo gli importanti interventi di consolidamento del costone roccioso che la ospita, eseguiti tra la fine del XIX e l’inizio del XX secolo, periodo a cui si deve anche Il vistoso corpo a due piani aggiunto all’originaria struttura, è in discrete condizioni. L' unico neo i market poco forniti , a San Foca il martedì c è il mercato... fate rifornimento. I was very happy, breathtaking landscape, splendid sea, strategic place to reach the whole south. Ideale per trascorrere ottime giornate al mare, connubio perfetto tra natura e relax. g	giampy dosi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fa parte delle innumerevoli torri che costellano il litoraneo salentino...( e non) ognuna con la sua storia e il suo stato conservativo...spesso precario (eufemismo) la nota positiva è che spesso sono collocate in uno scenario paradisiaco, come appunto specchia Ruggeri, varrebbe la pena fare un tour per tutte le torri salentine!!! For those who love being in silence in contact with nature, the sea and its wonderful coves, knowing that a few kilometers away you can reach trendy clubs with good restaurants. I love this place.
F	Francesco on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Torre Specchia si trova a due passi dalle spiagge più belle del Salento.Il paesaggio è tipico della macchia mediterranea,con molte piccole insenature di sabbia e rocce con un mare cristallino .C'é anche una torre saracena abbandonata .Consigliatissimo per famiglie con bambini e per chi ama la pesca . Torre Specchia is located a stone's throw from the most beautiful beaches of Salento.The landscape is typical of the Mediterranean scrub, with many small coves of sand and rocks with a crystalline sea. There is also an abandoned Saracen tower. Highly recommended for families with children and for those who love fishing.
