La sua bellezza è data anche dalla posizione, panoramicissima e strategica, domina infatti la baia di Sapri e l'orizzonte del Tirreno campano. Duole constatare che versa in uno stato pietoso, dovuto ad incuria e all'azione degli agenti atmosferici, ma si aggiungono opere non rispettose e lievi vandalismi. Per tornare a nuova vita richiede un restauro con tutti i crismi, il risultato sarà notevole in termini paesaggistici e turistici.
