Non monumento alla megalomania del Duce, ma “Faro del progresso che da Bergamo si affacciava sul mare della pianura lombarda, proprio attraverso le nuove comunicazioni stradali”.
Ospitava, al suo interno, un presidio della neo-nata Polizia Stradale.
Buona parte della sua monumentalità originale, esaltata un tempo anche dalla prospettiva, è andata irreparabilmente perduta a seguito della costruzione in tempi recenti dei raccordi/svincoli.

Inside, it housed a garrison of the newly-born Traffic Police.
Much of its original monumentality, once enhanced also by the perspective, has been irreparably lost following the recent construction of the junctions / interchanges.
