★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quest'opera di Amedeo Modigliani, tratta da un modello in legno, è l'unico bronzo monumentale in Italia e richiama alla mente le tante opere in legno presenti nelle bancarelle o sui teli degli ambulanti africani. Non è un caso, perché lopera di Modigliani ha subito la forte influenza dell'art nègre che all'inizio del secolo scorso contaminava la scena artistica parigina dove l'artista livornese visse e morì a soli 35 anni.
This work by Amedeo Modigliani, taken from a wooden model, is the only monumental bronze in Italy and brings to mind the many wooden works present in the stalls or on the sheets of African street vendors. It is no coincidence, because Modigliani's work has undergone the strong influence of art nègre which at the beginning of the last century contaminated the Parisian art scene where the Livorno artist lived and died at the age of 35.
