★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È, ovvero era, ed è stato per anni, il teatro di Terni, della mia città. Ora, purtroppo è chiuso da tanto, troppo tempo. Abbandonato. Ma spero che prima o poi qualcuno si degni di porre attenzione a questo bellissimo "palazzo dell'arte teatrale". La facciata ed il colonnato, ritratto tra l'altro anche in alcune foto postate da chi mi ha preceduto, rendono l'idea di quanto possa essere maestosamente bello. Auspico che quanto prima, finita questa maledetta pandemia, torni il "Teatro Verdi" nel suo splendore maximo.

But I hope that sooner or later someone deigns to pay attention to this beautiful "palace of theatrical art". The facade and the colonnade, portrayed among other things also in some photos posted by those who preceded me, give an idea of how majestically beautiful it can be. I hope that as soon as this cursed pandemic is over, the "Teatro Verdi" will return to its maximum splendor.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il “Teatro Verdi di Terni” nacque nel 1849 con il nome di Nuovo Teatro. Solo all’inizio dello scorso secolo, dopo numerose ristrutturazioni ed ampliamenti, fu intitolato al grande compositore italiano, Giuseppe Verdi. La struttura attuale progettata dall’architetto Poletti, fu realizzata al posto del vecchio forno pubblico di Terni. L’inaugurazione vide la messa in scena delle opere “Giovanna D’Arco” e “Saffo”. La prima ristrutturazione del Verdi di Terni fu realizzata dall’amministrazione comunale del 1893; successivamente, nel 1930, ulteriori ristrutturazioni portarono all’ampliamento del palcoscenico e successivamente al restauro generale. L’intervento attuale prevede un restauro, funzionalizzazione e valorizzazione di tutto il teatro nel suo complesso allo scopo di migliorare l’accessibilità e la fruizione.
The "Verdi Theater of Terni" was born in 1849 with the name of New Theater. Only at the beginning of the last century, after numerous renovations and extensions, was it named after the great Italian composer, Giuseppe Verdi. The current structure designed by architect Poletti was built in place of the old public oven in Terni. The inauguration saw the staging of the operas "Giovanna D'Arco" and "Sappho". The first renovation of the Verdi in Terni was carried out by the municipal administration in 1893; subsequently, in 1930, further renovations led to the enlargement of the stage and subsequently to the general restoration. The current intervention involves a restoration, functionalization and enhancement of the entire theater as a whole in order to improve accessibility and use.
