Bellissimo. In front of the historic Palazzo Salimbeni, also called Rocca Salimbeni, historic building in Siena that houses the Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest banking institution in Europe, a very pleasant statue is installed, a must see looking towards Via Banchi di Sotto. Very beautifull.

Monument to the priest from Siena, politician and economist Sallust Bandini, the work of Tito Sarokchi (1882). Bandini was an archdeacon, known for his work on agricultural economics and the philosophy of morality. He is the inventor of the remote payment method, the prototype of a bill of exchange. Il personaggio storico raffigurato credo sia tra i più fotografati della città. Una ribalta che forse non avrebbe voluto visto che si trattava di un religioso. Nel suo tempo però (inizi del 1700), politica, affari, religione non avevano confini netti come oggi…. o no. Famoso perché ha inventato la “cambiale”. Chissà che la statua (realizzata a fine ottocento) non sia stata finanziata da un consorzio di banche. I believe that the best position for a commemorative statue could not be chosen.
