★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was here for SPAL v Monza, 11 September 2021. The adrenaline was pumping as this was the first time the vast majority of fans had been in the stadium since February 2020. The atmosphere was out of this world.
Some logistical stuff. Two of the four stands are temporarily closed due to a legal/safety dispute with the local authorities. Only the two extremes remain: Curva Ovest, €16 an adult ticket, the place to sing, wave flags and jump around; Tribuna, €24-€50 an adult ticket, the old fogies' expensive stand. Part of the Tribuna has been separated off into an area for away fans.
The Italian authorities are allowing only 50% of fans in due to COVID.
To enter a stadium here you have to show I.D. which matches the name on the ticket plus your COVID status. They check everyone.
Having said all that, everything was implacably organised and everyone I know that wanted to go to the game managed to get a ticket. Just don't wait till the last minute.
The parts of the ground that are open are superb, having had a lot of work done to them when the club had two consecutive promotions to Serie A from Serie C ... although they're now back in Serie B again.
Ferrara is not a huge town. The train station is a 5-minute walk from the ground. There is plenty of free nearby street parking.
