Trattasi di acqua limpida e cristallina che vanno a formare dei veri e propri laghetti. Tutto attorno a questi si creano dei microclimi particolari dove la vegetazione la fa da padrona. Le acque delle sprofondate sono estremamente fredde quindi solo alcune specie marine sopravvivono in essa. Tra questi si distingue il cefalo che nel tempo ha popolato questi bacini, probabilmente giunto da canali sotteranei che sfociano nel mare. Interessante anche la micro fauna particolare che vive in questi bacini. Un'antica leggenda parla che dai cunicoli in cui l'acqua arriva in superficie, è possibile raggiungere la porta dell'inferno. Questa spundurata in particolare meriterebbe attenzione da parte delle amministrazioni dormienti e poco attenti alle bellezze naturalistiche della zona. Visibile il livello della limpidissima acqua, la zona è circondata da notevoli piante di macchia mediterranea. È presente anche ciò che rimane di un rudere antico tipo trullo. S	Simonetta Errigo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Da torre Castiglione ci siamo diretti lungo la costa in direzione di Torre Lapillo. Ci siamo immersi in un Salento splendido, autentico, diverso. Il paesaggio è molto particolare, caratterizzato da rocce e una scogliera bassa, piante di salicornia, montagne di poseidonia, ogni tanto qualche giglio e nell'interno piante tipiche della macchia mediterranea. Il tutto accompagnato dal canto delle cicale. Abbiamo osservato le diverse "spunnulate" (abbassamenti, cedimenti del terreno che creano delle conche di varie dimensioni dove alle volte si formano anche dei laghetti). Nella zona di maggior concentrazione delle spunnulate e spostandosi verso l'interno (rispetto alla costa) è possibile vedere un laghetto piuttosto grande abitato da pesci e proseguendo in direzione della strada si incontrano per terra tantissimi fossili. Nella passeggiata abbiamo incontrato diverse spiaggette e callette dove poter fare il bagno in un acqua limpida e di un colore stupendo. Peccato che le spunnulate e la zona dei fossili non siano segnalate e tutelate (sopra i fossili ad esempio transitano le macchine dei locali che vanno a fare il bagno, provocando la loro distruzione). In the area of greatest concentration of spunnulate and moving inland (with respect to the coast) it is possible to see a rather large pond inhabited by fish and continuing in the direction of the road you will encounter many fossils on the ground. During the walk we encountered several small beaches and small streets where you can bathe in clear and beautifully colored water. Too bad that the spunnulate and the fossil area are not reported and protected (for example, the cars of the rooms that go to bathe pass over the fossils, causing their destruction). A truly beautiful place.
