Spazio Kor

The Spazio Kor, home to theatrical performances, exhibitions and cultural events, is located inside the former church of San Giuseppe. The Church belonged to the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites who, with the advent of Napoleon (1802), was suppressed. In 1827, the religious were returned to assist the sick soldiers housed in the complex and remained there until 1859. From that moment the building was used as a barracks. In 1923 part of the convent became the seat of the national fascist militia and then of the fire brigade, until 1971 when it was used as a school building. The façade of the church is baroque, with the presence in the upper part of a "Serliana" window (window with three lights of which the central one is wider and arched, and whose shutters rest on the entablature of the lateral ones); it is influenced by Guarinian influences, in which the tendency to contain baroque motion within the confines of a solemn draft is evident. Inside the vaults of the presbytery, where a false architecture of squares can be glimpsed with broken openings animated by figures. In the center, fresco decorations depicting Saint Joseph among the musician angels, and the symbol of the Trinity; on the sides above the balconies, heads of angels appear and in the pendentives large figures of angels are painted to support the capitals. Many frescoes are attributable to Giancarlo Aliberti. The magnificent central altar in polychrome marble with the great statue of Saint Joseph in the center, with the abandonment of the church in the early nineteenth century, was transported to the parish church of Revigliasco d'Asti, where it is still possible to admire it. At the entrance to the Spazio Kor, on the west side of the church, the Lens Flare installation by Jacopo Valsania and Chiara Poletti was positioned.

Theater of experimentation and alternative proposals. Small events, exhibitions and stages are also held. It is not very big but it is well laid out and close to the historic center. Parking is easy and it is not in the ZTL area. If you need to know more there is a site that tells you better.

Between the sacred and the profane, or between the profane and the sacred? Deconsecrated church turned into a theater and excellent performances. Participated in the presentation of the new theatrical season, interesting and inclusive, very accessible structure for the disabled, and to conclude an excellent aperitif with organic wines offered by the staff.
