School L.Varoli

Interesting place.

I taught English without interruption from the school year 1999-2000 with a previous one in the school year 1994-95, in which I taught French from February to the end of June, just after returning from second maternity. It has always been a magical place for the great competence and humanity of the staff who have worked and currently work there. I have always felt welcomed, ever since I had not yet gained a lot of work experience and I was lucky enough to return after 14 years. Since then I have always wanted to stay there because in this small country but rich in cultural and integration initiatives for everyone, of every race, religion, political creed, age and gender, there has always been healthy, genuine hospitality it is solidarity between families, pupils and territory not found in other schools. It is no coincidence that the school is named after the late artist, generous man of culture and example of life, Professor Luigi Varoli, who was awarded, in 2002, the prestigious title of Righteous among the Nations, together with his wife and friend Zanzi and his wife for having saved 40 Jews from certain death ... Furthermore. he was a master of art all his life and founded the wonderful School of Arts and Crafts, which is still the engine of excellent initiatives for children of all kinds and ages. In our school you can still breathe the air of ancient wisdom and solidarity that comes from the terrible tragedy of the painful experience of war. Here, everyone, for better or for worse, knows each other but the prevailing mentality is that of the phoenix that rises from the ashes of a city destroyed in the body but reinvigorated in the soul (80% of buildings gutted by bombing by enemies and allies who fought the battle of the Senio and freed Cotignola only on 10 April 1945, only 15 days before the Liberation). Our school, which has been collaborating for years with all types of initiatives of the Municipality. in keeping the historical memory alive it is still itself a symbol of rebirth in educating the new generations to the knowledge and respect of its beautiful traditions and to the healthy maintenance of a hospitable romagnolity towards others. An example among all is the twinning with Huettlingen, a country in Germany and therefore of the former historical enemy, successfully carried out for years by the School and the Municipality through careful coordinated work.
