★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ad ovest dell'Acropoli , in contrada Gaggera si trovano i resti di un santuario dedicato ad una divinità femminile, forse Demetra. Si accedeva all'area sacra attraverso un propileo coperto, con due frontoni alle estremità: qui erano due altari per i sacrifici, un pozzo ed il tempio della Malophoros. ll tempio propriamente detto era un megaron con pronao, cella e adito, senza basamento e colonne. Costruito ed ampliato a più riprese, in esso si fondono elementi dorici, ionici e punici.
To the west of the Acropolis, in the Gaggera district, there are the remains of a sanctuary dedicated to a female divinity, perhaps Demeter. The sacred area was accessed through a covered propylaum, with two pediments at the ends: here were two altars for sacrifices, a well and the temple of Malophoros. The temple itself was a megaron with a pronaos, a cell and an entrance, without a base and columns. Built and expanded several times, Doric, Ionic and Punic elements blend in it.
