r	raffaella tacconi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il cartello con scritto "Benvenuti" lasciava ben sperare, e in effetti il posto è molto bello e suggestivo, ma poi sono arrivati 3 cani grandi che erano a guardia del santuario a quanto pare, uno dei quali ha aggredito la mia cagnolina che è buonissima, pessimo benvenuto questo, non me lo sarei mai aspettato da un posto cristiano che dovrebbe essere ispirato all'accoglienza e non all'aggressività. Pessima esperienza purtroppo... The sign saying "Welcome" bode well, and in fact the place is very beautiful and suggestive, but then 3 large dogs arrived who were guarding the sanctuary apparently, one of whom attacked my dog which is very good , this bad welcome, I would never have expected it from a Christian place that should be inspired by hospitality and not aggression. D	Donato Nardella on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il luogo è incantevole, il crocifisso nel lago è stato visibile, ma nessuna targhetta spiegava perché era lì, quello all'interno della chiesa non si è potuto vedere, ero lì nel pomeriggio e una chiesa dovrebbe essere aperta, purtroppo non era presente nessuno, era come stare in un luogo fiabesco ma senza esseri viventi. The place is lovely, the crucifix in the lake was visible, but no plate explained why it was there, the one inside the church could not be seen, I was there in the afternoon and a church should be open, unfortunately no one was present, it was like being in a fairytale place but without living beings.

Quando lo si visita per la prima volta si rimane stupiti dal crocefisso immerso nel lago varano. Ad aprile di ogni anno si può partecipare alla festa che richiama i fedeli delle città vicine. Vale una visita ed una preghiera soprattutto Silence, peace and nature characterize this enchanting place of worship. V	Valerio Agricola on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Secondo lo storico Giovanni Checchia la chiesa risalirebbe al 969, all'interno dell'antica città di Bayranum, di cui è presente ancora parte della cinta muraria, in prossimità della chiesa. Essa custodisce la statua lignea del SS. Crocifisso di Varano, di epoca XIII-XIV sec., molto venerata dalla popolazione di Ischitella e dei paesi limitrofi per il ricorrente miracolo della pioggia, che si ripete in ogni periodo di siccità. All'interno della chiesa sono visibili diverse lapidi che testimoniano questi eventi prodigiosi, ma anche una lapide di iscrizione romana ritrovata in un terreno vicino. Da notare le catene usate dai "disciplinanti" durante le processioni penitenziali poste in una teca, e un confessionale donato da ischitellani emigrati negli Stati Uniti d'America. B	Bartolomeo Cammarino on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piccolo santuario facilmente raggiungibile tramite le indicazioni di Google Maps. Luogo di culto e raccoglimento in cui è possibile trovare pace e serenità. Il santuario è situato su una radura abbastanza grande adibita parzialmente a parcheggio. Vi è una staccionata in legno da cui si può ammirare la splendida vista sul lago di Varano. Adiacente vi è nel lago un suggestivo crocifisso posto a protezione degli abitanti e del luogo. Non vi sono punti di ristoro ma è presente una fontana. There is a wooden fence from which you can admire the splendid view of the Varano lake. Adjacent there is a suggestive crucifix in the lake to protect the inhabitants and the place.
