When the sanctuary was run by the Dehonians, there was a priest always available for confessions; now it is rarer that there is a confessor present in the basilica.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interessante esempio di architettura secentesca che conserva al suo interno alcune opere di pregio. Cappella della Pietà: la pala d'altare raffigurante il Cristo morto compianto dalla Madonna addolorata è attribuito al Guercino, almeno come ideazione. Cappella di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola: La pala d'altare, di autore ignoto, raffigura la chiamata di Sant'Ignazio da parte della Santissima trinità. Apprezzabile anche la decorazione della volta.
Interesting example of seventeenth-century architecture that preserves some valuable works inside. Cappella della Pietà: the altarpiece depicting the dead Christ lamented by Our Lady of Sorrows is attributed to Guercino, at least as an idea. Chapel of Saint Ignatius of Loyola: The altarpiece, by an unknown author, depicts the call of Saint Ignatius by the Most Holy Trinity. The decoration of the vault can also be appreciated.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stupenda chiesa in stile barocco a sala unoca dedicata al santo protettore dei giovani.
L'esterno non è appariscente, molto sobrio ma, appena si entra, la si può ammirare in tutto il suo splendore.
Sul retro dell'altare è custodito il teschio del santo.
Sono presenti varie opere di discreto interesse, in particolare, l'affresco rappresentante la gloria di San Luigi di Giorgio Anselmi.

Superb Baroque style church with a single room dedicated to the patron saint of young people.
The exterior is not flashy, very sober but, as soon as you enter, you can admire it in all its splendor.
The skull of the saint is kept on the back of the altar.
There are various works of moderate interest, in particular, the fresco representing the glory of St. Louis by Giorgio Anselmi.

A duty when passing through Castiglione to visit the Sanctuary of San Luigi Gonzaga, patron saint of youth and known throughout the world.
