Merita la visita I'm not an expert but the feeling is special. It is a sui generis church with a tower bell tower, internal arches, staircase leading to the altar .... Crypt. Worth the visit

È caratterizzata dal campanile che è posto al centro della facciata, e funge da ingresso come si vede in alcune chiese gotiche d'oltralpe. L'interno è altrettanto semplice e severo. Le navate sono divise da possenti colonne. Il presbiterio è rialzato e sotto c'è la suggestiva cripta con affreschi in parte ben visibili. Dal lato sinistro del presbiterio si accede ad una cappella dove è esposto, sotto teca di cristallo, il corpo di San Severino. It is a severe and suggestive Romanesque church, located at the end of the historic center, towards the Roman gate. It is characterized by the bell tower which is located at the center of the façade, and serves as an entrance as seen in some Gothic churches across the Alps. The interior is equally simple and severe. The aisles are divided by mighty columns. The presbytery is raised and underneath is the suggestive crypt with partly visible frescos. From the left side of the presbytery you enter a chapel where the body of San Severino is displayed under a crystal case.

La natura e la storia si respirano a ogni passo, timbrando la mente con le belle immagini del monte che abbraccia la città, delle chiese e della sua ricca pinacoteca. La Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Doliolo mi ha emozionato in modo particolare quando sono scesa nella cripta, perché sono stata accolta da una speciale atmosfera in cui la penombra naturale ed il silenzio serbavano il giusto rispetto per gli affreschi dei fratelli Salimbeni. Per i curiosi d'arte come me, credo che una tappa da non lasciarsi sfuggire a San Severino è la pinacoteca Tacchi Venturi dove con gusto e naturalezza si possono ammirare le opere di molti pittori tra i quali Lorenzo e Jacopo Salimbeni, Lorenzo d'Alessandro, Vittore Crivelli, Paolo Veneziano e Bernardino di Betto, detto il Pinturicchio. It was very pleasant to walk in San Severino Marche. Nature and history are breathed at every step, stamping the mind with the beautiful images of the mountain that embraces the city, the churches and its rich art gallery. The Church of San Lorenzo in Doliolo moved me in a particular way when I went down to the crypt, because I was greeted by a special atmosphere in which the natural half-light and silence kept the right respect for the frescoes of the Salimbeni brothers. For art curious like me, I believe that a stop not to be missed in San Severino is the Tacchi Venturi art gallery where with taste and naturalness you can admire the works of many painters including Lorenzo and Jacopo Salimbeni, Lorenzo d'Alessandro , Vittore Crivelli, Paolo Veneziano and Bernardino di Betto, known as Pinturicchio.
