★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Le rovine di Castel Laimburg, noto anche come Castel Varco, si trovano sul passo di Monte di Mezzo lungo la strada che collega il lago di Caldaro con Vadena. Il rudere risale al XIII secolo e cadde in rovina nel 1600.
The ruins of Castel Laimburg, also known as Castel Varco, are located on the Monte di Mezzo pass along the road that connects Lake Caldaro with Vadena. The ruin dates back to the 13th century and fell into disrepair in 1600.

Si trova vicinissimo al bordo della strada che raggiunge il passo Novale del Monte di Mezzo.
Il castello è originario del 1230 e partecipò agli scontri tra la fazione dei Tirolo e quella dei principi-vescovi di Trento, ma, già nel XV secolo, venne abbandonato.
Progressivamente cadde in rovina.
Oggi ne rimangono solo poche rovine, che , anche se sono state restaurate e messe in sicurezza, a mio parere, sono di scarso interesse.
Sono facilmente raggiungibili e l'accesso è normalmente libero.

The castle dates back to 1230 and took part in the clashes between the Tirolo faction and that of the prince-bishops of Trento, but, already in the 15th century, it was abandoned.
It gradually fell into disrepair.
Today only a few ruins remain, which, even if they have been restored and made safe, in my opinion, are of little interest.
They are easily accessible and access is normally free.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Historisch interessant. Schöner Ausblick von oben. Es hat etwas mystisches an sich... Parkplätze gibt es an sich nicht. Haltebucht vor dem Eingang. Nach 100m Fußweg erreicht man die Festung. Sehenswert.
Historically interesting. Nice view from above. There is something mystical about it ... there are no parking spaces per se. Stop in front of the entrance. After a 100m walk you will reach the fortress. Worth seeing.
