Un tripudio di antichi sapori e profumi...da leccarsi i baffi veramente...tutto rigorosamente abbondante come vuole la tradizione calabrese :) ma sopratutto genuino e di qualità :) specialità della casa sono i maccheroni (tipica pasta fresca calabrese rigorosamente filata a mano) personale squisito, molto gentile e cordiale... è gradita la prenotazione :) Typical Calabrian cuisine. In questa località , che vi affascinera' per le sue viuzze e porte affrescate , non potrete fare a meno di prenotare un delizioso pasto presso la "Trattoria dei Santi ", che oltre a pasti caratteristici del luogo fatti con la tradizione del passato con gusti unici , vi sorprenderà per la cortesia socievole di Alba la Chef e Francesca la maitre . Alba ci ha cucinato dei piatti eccezionali, spiegandoci le ricette e la preparazione di queste prelibatezze. L'ambiente del ristorante è molto accogliente e la musica davvero apprezzata. Vale la pena mangiare in questa trattoria, sia per visitare il piccolo e suggestivo borgo di Staiti, sia solamente per una buonissima cena.

Bellissimo il borgo, bellissima la terrazza con vista panoramica ed altrettanto meravigliosa la piccola piazzetta esterna dove possono essere sistemati alcuni tavoli. Le foto non rendono. Passiamo al cibo. Tutto davvero molto buono. Antipasti della tradizione calabrese con prodotti della zona sia freddi (salumi, formaggi etc.) che caldi (polpette di melanzane, involtini di peperoni, pitta...). Anche il pane (di grano duro) merita per quanto è buono. Primi eccezionali, maccheroni fatti in casa con sugo di Capra o altro a seconda del periodo. Di secondo (bisogna avere grandi capacità per arrivare al secondo perché normalmente si è già quasi sazi e felici) ho assaggiato la capra. Piatto raro ormai da trovare, cucinato a dovere e davvero molto gustoso senza essere minimamente "eccessivo". Dolci che meritano di chiudere questo percorso gastronomico e culturale perché anch'essi perfetti. Io ho mangiato una cheesecake al caramello salato incredibile. Le ragazze ed i ragazzi che lavorano e gestiscono la Taverna sono simpatici e disponibili, oltre a consigliare cibi e bevande sono in grado di raccontare storie di cibi e luoghi rendendo l'esperienza culturalmente invitante. Prezzo più che onesto. Menzione d'onore per la "santa pazienza" che hanno avuto dovendo gestire -millemila- telefonate da parte nostra per modifiche di persone ed orari. The village is beautiful, the terrace with a panoramic view is beautiful and the small outdoor square where some tables can be set up is equally wonderful. The photos don't make it. Let's move on to food. All very good indeed. Appetizers of the Calabrian tradition with local products both cold (salami, cheeses etc.) and hot (eggplant meatballs, peppers rolls, pitta ...). Even the bread (of durum wheat) deserves for how good it is. Exceptional first courses, homemade macaroni with Goat sauce or other depending on the period. Second (you need to have great skills to get to the second because normally you are already almost full and happy) I tasted the goat. Rare dish now to be found, properly cooked and very tasty without being in the least "excessive". Sweets that deserve to close this gastronomic and cultural journey because they are also perfect. I ate an amazing salted caramel cheesecake. The girls and boys who work and run the tavern are nice and helpful, as well as recommending food and drink they are able to tell stories of food and places making the experience culturally inviting. Price more than fair. Honorable mention for the "holy patience" they had to manage - thousand thousand - phone calls from us for changes in people and schedules. I hope to come back soon.
