I’ve been to Cefalù four times so far and always come to this restaurant. The host, Calogero, is very accommodating and friendly.
The food is traditional, homely, and tastes amazing. The restaurant has an outside sitting area too which is on a cute cobbled side street.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was basic, nothing particularly special. But more more importantly, the staff were not professional or indeed polite. The restaurant had made an error and mixed up our order, I was given a different plate of food to what I had ordered without being told that there was a mistake. The plate was just dropped off in front of me. I raised this as an issue and was met with a huge sigh by the waiter, and treated as though it was my fault. Eventually my dish arrived and no apology was given. Therefore I cannot recommend this restaurant - worth trying somewhere else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had spaghetti with mussels which was a real deception. Almost all the mussels were empty. When the manager asked if everything was okay, i told him that unfortunately what was the problem. Surprisingly he didn't believe me and said that is impossible and didn't believe my words. I was telling hil that it was really the case and that I don't need anything and that I was just giving them feedback aboutym the food I was happy to order. He didn't stop telling that it can't be possible. It was unfortunately a bad experience for the last dinner in Cefalù ans not a friendly contact at all

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m not sure what other people see in this restaurant, but I absolutely hated it. I went in with high expectations after reading the reviews.
We ordered the Sicilian-style pasta with eggplant and the swordfish. Both of them were insipid and lacking flavor. It was so bad we had to add salt and stuff ourselves with bread because we couldn’t believe this passed as food.
If you do come to this restaurant, do yourself a favor and not order this dish.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love Italy and Italians. Have been in Italy many times and will come back again, but today I just got fed up with rudeness at il Carretto. Why a waiter at an expensive restaurant thinks it is ok to be rude? A simple misunderstanding. They had a dish called "grilled local fish" that I ordered, but they brought me calamari. I said that calamari is not a fish, and the waiter went on and on about how this is a local fish because it was fished locally. I am the one paying 100 euros for my lunch. They are the ones that should have called menu item "catch of the day" instead of "local fish". Why am I being lectured by a kid half my age?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely restaurant in the middle of a small street in Cefalu. Hidden for all the tourist. Prices are affordable and the food was good. Go early if you don't have an appointment. Good attention from the waiters. I asked for spaghetti alle vongole and it was good 4/5? I was full just with the primo. The spritz was 3/5.

The antipasto was really good, the spaghetti a la siciliana were good, but the involtini di pesce spada weren't very good.
Nevertheless, I recommend it
