★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say been to garda for the past 10 years and found this gem on our last visit 10/10 isent enough to just say how amazing it was we were in garda for 10 day and ate here 3 times everything from pasta to the lamb and the steaks and the seafood if I could have I would have gone every night here also the staff were amazing very helpful and polite if you go to one place in garda make here you'd be a fool to miss out on the best restaurant in garda

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Capitani is probably the best run of all the fabulous venues on the lakeside in the wonderful town of Garda, Lake Garda, Northern Italy. The meal my wife and I had there was overseen by The Dutchman in charge and served by the sweetest girl at his command. We had salmon in linguini followed by a dessert of mostly orange flavoured. ? cake and the ice creams chef makes there, in house. With fizzy rose wine, the whole thing was?a treat and a half. These people deserve trade.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Waitress tried to coerce me to pay tip. Please understand that tipping is not a thing in Italy. Mixed fried seafood plate contained only 1 piece per species. Food was ok and I did not need to wash the dishes, so... more convenient than at home. Excellent lake nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was delicious (one of the better ones on the waterfront). I had ravioli with ricotta and truffle. My wife had the seafood pasta. Both excellent. Then I had a tenderloin which the owner (a Dutch guy) recommended. He also recommended a white wine from Laguna (2016) which was great. The steak disappointed, and so did the owner's reaction. I ordered the meat rare. I even asked which would go better rare, the grilled option or the one with the green pepper sauce. It took a while to arrive, which is fine, and then it ended up being medium well. The meat itself was excellent. The butcher saved the chef. When I told the owner he looked at me funny, made a half-heartened apologetic frown without really saying anything, and then ran off without giving it much thought, to cater to other clients. Again, not the end of the world, but he should have at least acknowledged my displeasure. Instead, he appeared a bit scatterbrained and his mind was clearly elsewhere than serving his customers. (The reason I say that is when we came in to get a table he also didn't focus on us at all, but just ran off with something else on his mind. Struck me as a bit of a weird guy with poor social skills).
