Molto bello. Comodo anche il parcheggio dell'Auditorium che consente di arrivare facilmente in centro.
Very beautiful. The Auditorium car park is also convenient, allowing you to easily reach the center.

Ravello Municipality of the prov. of Salerno (8.1 km2 with 2508 inhabitants in 2008). The center is located on the southern coast of the Sorrento Peninsula, at 350 m a.s.l., on a buttress that divides the Valle del Dragone from the Valle del Regina and dominates the entire Gulf of Salerno. World famous health resort, with an intense tourist movement. Founded around the 6th century, during the Gothic war, we have sure news of it only from the 9th century. In 1087 it was built by Vittore III in the bishopric. For the support given in 1135 to Amalfi against the Pisans, it was devastated by them (1137). United to the Duchy of Amalfi, it reached great prosperity in the 13th century. The city is characterized by the beauty of the landscape and monuments, marked by Arab-Sicilian characters from the 11th-13th centuries: the cathedral, from the 11th century, remodeled in the 18th; S. Giovanni del Toro (12th century ambo) and other Romanesque churches of original local architecture; the Rufolo palace (13th century), located in a dominant position, with a magnificent courtyard with a double order of crossed arches and a garden full of exotic plants, which inspired R. Wagner the pages of Parsifal dedicated to the garden of Klingsor.

Buses to/from Amalfi (and other locations) stop here. Get your tickets on a Tabacchi shop in front of the church. Bus drivers do NOT sell them on board

Unorganized bus line running between cities on the Amalfi coast. The bus line is OK, considering that the amalfi roads are hard to drive on, and that there is a lot of trafic. But still, there are a lot of things wrong with this bus organization. Out of all the busses I took, only one arrived on time, and still had seating places. There is no space on the Bus, since all the staff members try to cram up to 80 people in one bus. The duration of the bus from point a to point b is underestimated, and the bus takes up to 20 minutes longer to arrive there, which is partially because of the stau. The bus tinetable is very confusing, since the busses don't arrive at regular intervals, instead arrive completely out of pattern, which makes it impossible to predict the next bus. Also the bus sometimes runs only on weekdays or on no school doys, or on public holidays, which is too hard to memorize. There are very few busses, which arrive at intervals of 1-3 hours which is outrageously long for such a popular tourist destination. I have seen a way better bus service on the island of Sifnos in Greece, where the busses came every hour at a fixed time, and actually arrived on time. A bus route serving about 60 passengers every day would have more busses running the route, than the Amalfi-Positano-Sorrento stretch. Tickets are priced reasonably for tourists but become expensive for the locals, since for the same price, you could buy a bus ticket in a capital city. Most of the staff are kind and agnowledgable, but some are rude and just ignorant. One bus driver wouldn't display the destination until the time of departure, which caused a lot of confusion, and made the bus overcrowded, and full of passengers going to the wrong destination. You don't really have any other form of transportation except the car, which means that you would have to pay the expensive 11 euro per hour parking in Amalfi, to ensure that it doesn't get stolen,or broken into, which, by the way the area is infamous for. There is also a lack of parking spaces in most of the cities (especially Positano,Amalfi, and Sorrento) which makes it even harder to park and takes a lot of time. You have got to take this bus to get around but generally try to avoid it. Not Reccomended!

The city of art and music in a scenery of an idyllic atmosphere (ovbiously not in the peak of tourism yet worth visiting) you can buy beautifully decorated plates while enjoying the landscape . Bear in mind that there are not many places to sit and drink a lemonadein the main square.

Nice town, very small, best time to visit it in middle seasons. Beautiful panorama and the two villas. Be careful if you suffer the road because the many of rounds to reach/leave the town. And be careful to the parking: 5 Euros per hour. For the rest, enjoy Ravello!! (And don't miss the famous concert if you can)
