★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' una delle porte che si aprono nella cosiddetta "seconda cerchia di mura" che viene fatta risalire all'epoca imperiale romana.
Detta anche "di Sant'Antonio" è stata costruita con blocchi di travertino ed ha la forma di un arco a sesto acuto sovrapposto ad uno più basso a tutto sesto.
Sul lato di via Matteotti presenta uno degli stemmi più antichi di Todi che sembra risalire al 1200. E' inoltre decorata da affreschi che sono, però, in precario stato di conservazione eseguiti probabilmente tra il 1600 ed il 1700.
Il nome deriva dal fatto che veniva sbarrata mettendo in tensione alcune grosse catene.
It is one of the doors that open into the so-called "second circle of walls" that dates back to the Roman imperial era.
Also called "di Sant'Antonio" it was built with travertine blocks and has the shape of a pointed arch overlapping a lower round-headed one.
On the side of via Matteotti it presents one of the oldest crests of Todi that seems to date back to 1200. It is also decorated with frescoes that are, however, in a precarious state of preservation probably executed between 1600 and 1700.
The name derives from the fact that it was barred putting some large chains in tension.
