★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Costruita nei primi del 1500, sorge in fondo a Corso Ercole I d'Este, la via degli Angeli, cha dal Castello arrivava alla torre. La costruzione della porta rientra nel progetto urbanistico dell'Addizione Erculea nel 1492 disegnata dall'architetto Biagio Rossetti.
La Porta degli Angeli è l’unica porta della città visitabile anche nel suo interno, attraverso due percorsi di visita: il primo parte dalla corte e, attraverso il fornice secondario e il ponte di ferro, giunge al rivellino esterno, per poi scendere nel sottomura; il secondo prende il via dal corpo originario della struttura militare, scende alla casetta del corpo di guardia, con resti archeologici del camminamento di ronda, e si conclude alla sommità della torre.
Di proprietà comunale, lo storico edificio della Porta degli Angeli è sede di numerosi eventi e iniziative culturali nel corso dell'anno, soprattutto di natura espositiva, concertistica e musicale.
