Very nice collection in a very nice building. I'm not a big fan of the Senese painters but the entry price is fair and it's one of the few places in Siena that's not crowded.

The Pinacoteca is a gem for researchers and lovers of Italian renaissance art. Placed near the major attractions of the Piazza del Campo and the beautiful and unique Duomo. It has a unique collection of the Sienese school of painting- from Duccio and Simone Martini to major figures of the high renaissance as the excentric Sodoma to 2 exceptional paintings by Beccafumi. Not frequented by the wider public you can find yourselves enjoying the quiet and cool atmosphere on a hot day.

Very underestimated tourist destination. Museum suggests to your attention excellent condition of medieval fine arts created mostly at Siena between XIII -XVII centuries. A lot of great master pieces created by great masters. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.

If you like your icons medieval and in the Sienese gold-embossed-everything style, this is the place for you. Also a lovely portrait of sweet Bess QE1.

If you're looking for a quiet, uncrowded, museum experience, I would highly recommend. They've got early religious works from Baroque to Enlightenment. All work is native to Siena.

Museum consists of two parts: the second floor with old (12th - 14th century) paintings on wood (like crosses found above altars in churches), and on the first floor normal paintings from the 15th to 17th century. However there is a reoccuring theme in the whole collection, namely Madonna with child. The museum consists of about 37 rooms which take less than 2 hours. All in all I would recommend this museum because it is not too big and has a beautiful and rare collection.

Never happened before: the old lady overviewing the visitors wanted to limit the number of photos taken from the frescoes. She decided one of each is enough.

Horrible lighting. Sections of MOST painting are unviewable with such harsh lighting. You have to wonder why they even bother showing them.
