Sapientemente valorizzata da un impianto elettrico che rende molto, molto suggestivo il sito. The church (medieval period) was built above an Etruscan temple .. a visible portion of the access stairway remains, a small trace of the perimeter walls and the sacrificial altar facing. Expertly enhanced by an electrical system that makes the site very, very suggestive.

Dietro di essa si possono visitare dei reperti archeologici etruschi visto che un luogo di culto è stato sempre presente. Molto curato, ottima vista ed anche alcuni servizi dedicati ai più piccoli come un parco giochi per bambini. Church of Pieve a Socana located in the historic center. The restored external façade faithfully reproduces how the Church has been in past centuries. Behind it you can visit Etruscan archaeological finds since a place of worship has always been present. Very nice, excellent view and also some services dedicated to children such as a playground for children.

M	Michele Maione on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La pieve è un esempio dei più convincenti della continuità del luogo sacro, dietro la pieve sono stati scoperti i resti di un preesistente tempio etrusco, tra cui l’ara sacrificale, che distrutta in parte il tempio, su di esso si impiantò a partire dal XI secolo. La chiesa con tribuna romanica ad una sola grande navata è il frutto di molte trasformazioni, che hanno dato luogo all’arretramento della facciata con la riduzione della lunghezza. Sul fianco sinistro il campanile che ha la parte inferiore cilindrica e quella superiore esagonale. A place of Christian worship erected over an ancient Etruscan temple ... over 2500 years of history ... of religion ... this Pieve is kept alive by a group of parishioners who are willing to give very kind information full of enthusiasm and pride ... also with free offer you can buy the book "Pieve a Socana art history and sacredness" by Alfio Scarini pastor of this church for over 30 and who has attended all the excavations ... an exceptional book ... which allows to the visitor to better understand this wonderful place !!

I had gone to the remains of the Etruscan temple found there behind and under the church and I was very pleased to be able to visit it.

È normalmente chiusa, ma all'ingresso ci sono numeri di telefono da contattare per visite oppure si può chiedere al vicino negozio di alimentari di farsi aprire per una visita in autonomia. Da non perdere la rarità dell'ara etrusca che si trova in libero accesso nello spazio retrostante la pieve Parish church in Romanesque style to see. It is normally closed, but at the entrance there are telephone numbers to contact for visits or you can ask the nearby grocery store to open for a visit independently. Do not miss the rarity of the Etruscan altar which is freely accessible in the space behind the parish church

The parish church sits directly on top of the 5BC etruscan temple, whose remains are now limited to a few foundations facing the exterior of the apse. Unfortunately when we visited the church was closed (on a Saturday at 12.30), however the archaeological site is free to visit and always open. Worth of note also the bell tower, whose shape starts cylindrical and ends hexagonal, provably indicating a reconstruction during medieval times. Nearby, there is a small children's outdoor play area and a small gazebo with a covered picnic table. Lots of parking.
