β β β β β If you visit Arezzo, or travel close by, this is a place you should definitely visit. So much history in this medieval town, this is the main square where the Saracino takes place. Even the tower clock is unique, made in 1500, it takes track of the moon and sun cycles.

β β β β β It is an interesting piazza. They hold jousting tournaments annually. The pizza itself is on a slope unlike most pizzas/plazas that are level. The north side is about 20 feet higher than the south side.
Although we were there on a Saturday, it wasnβt crowded. Since this visit was in late October 2021, most of the foreign tourists werenβt traveling yet.

β β β β β It's hard to find appropriate words to describe Piazza Grande, the very heart of Arezzo's old town.
Born and raised in Arezzo, I cannot fail to wander around Piazza Grande every time I come back.
Every corner of this square is magnificent and full of history. The Vasarian Loggia, now filled with cosy cafΓ©'s and restaurants under its arcades; the hystorical Palazzo della Confraternita dei Laici, which hosted the Tribunal until few years ago; the old buildings topped by medieval towers and hosting craftsmen and antique shops along the street level.
Furthermore, the square itself which is theatre, twice per year, to the magic "Giostra del Saracino" (a unique medieval tournament you must admire once in life), plus one of the oldest antique fairs of Europe (held the first Sunday of every month) and the colourful Christmas Market.
If you have not been here yet, it's time to come!
Benvenuti in Piazza Grande.

β β β β β Arezzo, Tuscany. If ever in Tuscany I recommend this beautiful town 10/10. I travelled there by train from Florence. It can take about 2 hours to get there. I recommend staying the night. I missed a lot of places as I had to return back on the same day. Everything from architecture to food, hospitality really stand out here. And, if you don't like really crowded places, you'll enjoy this even more. ??

β β β β β Beautiful piazza set in one of the gems of Tuscany, Arezzo. Noted for several scenes filmed in and around the piazza for the movie, "Life is beautiful".
