Mhhhhh...
Nemo propheta in patria (sua) is a Latin phrase which means: "No one is a prophet in [his] homeland". It was one of the many Neapolitan pastry chefs to leave his city to try to establish himself in a difficult square like that of Parma but with the perseverance and sacrifice of those who have the awareness of a golden craft in their hands, over the years it is became one of the artists of the Neapolitan dessert in Parma, definitely the number 1 in the city. Babà, sfogliatelle, small pastries and cakes for birthdays, rustic sandwiches and many other specialties, take place in the windows to be immediately sold. The strategic location near the train station makes Pasticceria Angelo easily accessible by all means. Ask to try the babà with cream and nutella ................. no comment! Unfortunately Angelo left us in a period of pandemic, but his nephew who took over the management of the production laboratory, although very young, is making his memory high with high quality pastry products and with increasingly rich offers of special things and as delicious as the sfogliatelle with broccoli. The rum baba with cream-- we'd had better elsewhere. The syrup was rather watery and hadn't had time to completely saturate the pastry. The pastry cream, though smooth, was of the somewhat starchy variety and didn't particularly taste of very much besides sweet. The sfogliatella was beautifully laminated but the layers were quite hard when one bit into them. The coffees were decent. All in all, thoroughly acceptable fare. However, when it came time to pay, that was when it all went downhill. The 3 wait staff behind the counter had been rather brusque when we ordered, but we assumed that was because they were busy. They were brusque to everyone. But when we wanted to pay, the crowd had cleared and then it became clear that they were ignoring us. Even though we were standing at the counter, had brought our empty plates and cups to the counter, and were obviously waiting to pay, they hung back and ignored us. When we asked to pay in Italian, they hardly made eye contact. There was no smiling, no politeness, no acknowledgement -- nothing. The man at the counter poked at the cash register, then asked his colleague what we'd had. She couldn't remember and asked me. I replied in Italian. She relayed the message to her colleague. All the while, the three of them communicated resentment and contempt-- as if they felt that their time would be better spent attending to other things, or to people who shared their skin color and ethnic roots. While traveling, I've always been hesitant to attribute any difference in the treatment we've received to race. Most times, when we walk into a shop or restaurant, the staff are wary of the cultural and linguistic differences but once they realise that we're trying to speak the language and just want a taste of what their life/ culture is like, they warm up and treat us like everybody else. In this instance, however, we ordered in Italian, were quick in deciding on what we wanted, didn't take up much time or make a fuss and yet were treated like non-entities. So. If you're Asian or don't look European, you might want to give this place a miss. But if you dig feeling like a second class citizen, this place is definitely for you.

Best for pastry and real italian breakfast experience. Good selection of sweets for breakfast, great coffee and amazing entrepreneurial staff. Fast and friendly. Owner even went to a shop nearby to get oranges to make an orange juice because i asked (was not on the menu). Great place, go there. Its 1min from train station and 1 mi. From novotel an many other hotels. Dont need to hav breakfast in those hotels.
