In this square in front of the Statue of Heroes of Civitavecchia. This nice parish church, recently renovated, was built under the pontificate of Benedict XIV, and enlarged under that of Pius IX in the first half of the last century, on the area occupied, already in part, by a small and dilapidated sacred building, dedicated to S Antonio Abate, by the Conventual Franciscan Friars Minor. These religious, whose residence in Civitavecchia, dates back to the year 1588 after the suppression of the Orsini Sacri decreed by Napoleon I, saw their every attempt to get back their church of San Francesco, because it was made a cathedral, and their convent because it was intended at the Episcopal See, if they settled in this part of the city (then suburb) and set about building this new church. The church was dedicated to Saint Immaculate Conception with the autograph of the Supreme Pontiff Pius IX, and consecrated to the cult of the Diocesan Bishop Monsignor Camillo Bisleti, on July 6, 1856. It has no great value as architecture, nor is it very sufficient for size; however, it is the church dearest to our people who prefers it for its acts of worship. Noteworthy is the venerated image of the Madonna della Pietà which, as is clear from the regular canonical process, repeatedly moved her eyes on April 20, 1854. Here is also noteworthy the monument erected to the great fellow citizen Colonnello comm. Alessandro Cialdi. The bas-relief of this simple but elegant monument bears the following epigraph ALESSANDRO CIALDI KNIGHT OF MULTIPLE ORDERS COMMANDER OF THE PONTIFICAL MARINE ILLUSTRATED OCEAN NAVIGATOR DEEP WRITER OF NEW THEORIES ON THE WAVES, ON THE FLUTES, ON THE CURRENTS AND ON THE BUILDING OF THE PORTS HERE IN THE PARISH WHERE HE WAS BORN WANTED TO PLACE THE MONUMENT ENTRUSTED TO THE SUFFRAGE OF FARMERS 1882 Monument created for the sculptor Vincenzo Ribocchi. It is a beautiful church, well maintained. Located between the port, the railway station and the boulevard, it is a destination for many visitors. Inside is the miraculous painting of the Madonna della Pietà located just above the tabernacle of the Blessed Sacrament. On weekdays it is possible to participate in the Holy Mass in Italian every morning at 7.30, except on Sundays and other holidays when it is celebrated at 11.30, always in Italian. Inside, in addition to the altarpieces depicting the Saints, we can admire a wooden crucifix of rare beauty as well as the statue of Mary Immaculate who blesses all pilgrims. The church has recently been proclaimed a sanctuary by the bishop Mariano. If you pass through Civitavecchia you cannot miss this appointment with Jesus and Holy Mary. Even non-believers find refreshment in this suggestive place in the city.

The parish of S.S. Concezione stands in the square of the heroes in front of the monument dedicated to the heroes of Civitavecchia, also known as the ghetto church as it is one of the oldest in the city (16th century). The facade is very simple but the interior is well maintained and conveys a lot of spirituality. Entering from the right side you can immediately admire a crucifix made of ash wood by a soldier and then the six chapels dedicated to the Saints.
