Church facing the lake ... wonderful

Beautiful church, Menaggio is a cozy little town, with a little shopping and lots of cafes. There is handicraft, pastry shop, cafes, clothes, very small grocery store, and a couple of ATMs.

I saw the Church x case, since I parked the car in front. Unfortunately nn are able to enter, there had been major cleanings. I'd like to go back there to be able to visit it; entrance I thought that was interesting

The parish church is dedicated to the patron saints of the town, Peter and Paul. Its construction dates back to the sixteenth century, but the building underwent a renovation in the following century. In fact, the Baroque altar and the pulpit inlaid in wood and gilded are from the seventeenth century. I found the paintings on slate inside the chapel dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario really valuable. Worth a visit!

The church dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul is located in the Borgo di Dervio, right in front of the shores of Lake Como. The parish dates back to the 11th century, although the primitive construction could date back to the 6th century. The current building, from the Romanesque period, is a basilica consisting of three naves and five bays, with three apses. Around 1665 the altar of the Madonna del Rosario was renovated, the baptismal font and a confessional both in black marble were added. Of particular value and interest, the carved and gilded wooden pulpit, very similar to the one found in the church of San Giacomo in Bellagio. On the sides of the altar there are two large canvases from the 1600s, the work of the Bergamo painters Giovanni and Francesco Cavagna, the paintings represent the martyrdom of St. Peter and the conversion of St. Paul. In 1670 and 1672 the Rubini and De Magni families obtained from the Curia the permission to be buried in the church, only simple tombstones were prepared that are still visible in the side aisles. The statue of the Madonna and child dates back to the 16th century. Outside the church there are traces of the small arches and of the three double splayed single lancet windows; the date 1613 is engraved on the top. The Romanesque forms are still evident in the bell tower and in the belfry.
